  • Yes, I realize that returning him to the flock is probably a nonstarter. He is quite tame and was about three or four months old when he fell ill and I found him. He was still with his parents, and they were quite upset when I scooped him up off the pavement and took him home. So I have always felt a little guilty about the rescue even though the infection would have meant his demise. I have a couple of budgies, so he has some little cousins for company.

  • Thanks, Karen. Have you seen the conures lately? I am thinking about repatriating Chili when his wing feathers grow back. It may not be feasible, but I'd like to at least find the flock. I heard that there is also a flock in Sunnyvale, but I don't know where.

  • Hi Karen! Thank you for the welcome :) I have three other parrots too. A nanday conure, a caique, and a brown-headed parrot. Plus two budgies. I love the pic of your dog. She(?) is so cute! -pam

  • Thanks for the welcome! When I met Martini, I realized that Maximillian Pionus parrots are the color of green olives, and they have bright red feathers under their tail, like a pimento in a martini olive - that's where his name comes from! I may not make your first meeting, but I certainly plan on coming to as many as possible - it will be great to talk with other parrot people! Hope to meet you soon (if not this Sunday)
